GiltHaus is a home decor site built around one idea: Art Deco glamour belongs in real homes, including rented ones, small ones and ones decorated on an ordinary budget.
Why this site exists
Most Art Deco content falls into two camps. Either it is museum-grade, the Chrysler Building, Ocean Drive in Miami, a Paris apartment with its original 1928 panelling, or it is a vague mood board of gold and black that never tells you what to actually buy or do. Neither helps someone standing in a beige rental living room wondering how to get the look without losing their deposit.
GiltHaus sits in the gap. Every guide here starts from a specific question people are genuinely asking (we build our topics from live search demand, not guesswork) and ends with something you can act on: a palette with real paint names, a layout with measurements, a product with a price, or a technique that leaves no holes in the wall.
Who writes it
GiltHaus is written and edited by Ayesha, its founder. She researches every topic from the ground up: the history of the style, what designers are doing with it now, what is actually available to buy, and what holds up in a small or rented space. She is not affiliated with any furniture brand or retailer, and no brand pays for coverage.
What you will find here
- Room-by-room guides: living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, dining rooms and entryways, each with real palettes and layouts.
- Decor details: lighting and brass, mirrors and gallery walls, wall art, wallpaper, statement furniture and colour palettes.
- Style guides: what Art Deco is, how Neo Deco updates it for 2026, and the neighbouring styles of Hollywood Regency, maximalism and the 1920s.
- Renter and small-space ideas: no-drill upgrades, budget finds and DIY versions of the expensive thing.
- Entertaining and seasonal: bar carts, Gatsby parties, Christmas and New Year’s Eve with a Deco edge.
How we work
Our editorial standards page explains how guides are researched, how products are chosen, how affiliate links work and how we handle corrections. The short version: we only recommend things we would put in our own homes, we say clearly when a link earns us a commission, and we update guides when the advice changes rather than leaving old information up.
